How to Turn My Success into Great Social Content

I have great ideas and I’m successful at what I do, but how do I make good content on it?

Remember, good content only does two things:

The thumbnail makes people click on it.

AND

The post makes them stay (watch, like, share, save).

Read that again. THAT IS IT! This is ALL your content needs to do to perform well.

Now, when it comes to translating ideas into social business content, remember that EIE is what will help you reach these two goals.

Educate

Inspire

Entertain

The lowest hanging fruit here is education, because anyone could make the argument that their business social content is educational.

Absorb that information — because it’s where a lot of digital entrepreneurs go wrong.

Making “educational” content about your business is not going to get eyeballs.
You’re basically telling people that they should give up their time to learn about you.

What’s in it for them? Always ask yourself: Why would this person care?

People care about themselves first. So, how do we make our content engaging for people who aren’t ourselves?

Here’s how you make better social content: flip the EIE.

Focus on

entertainment first,
inspiration second, and
education third.

By prioritizing it like this, you’re thinking about your ideas from a purely entertainment-based mindset.

Is this post eye-catching?

Is this post amusing?

Is there something about this post that could hold people’s attention?

Because people aren’t scrolling with their ears first—you need to catch their eye to then entice their other senses.

Show people why they should keep watching, and then inspire them to want to learn more about what you could do for them!

Let’s hand the mic to an example we’ve seen before:

You’re entertained first by watching her get unready (a very trendy trend for 2022).

You’re then inspired by the story she’s telling, and how she’s trying to encourage other people who dream of getting into modelling.

Finally, by the time the video is closing, you’re probably curious to know more about her personal brand — ie: education.

If Kenz was just sitting down, looking into the camera while telling this story, most people would get bored and scroll on. But because she’s added an element of entertainment, people want to see the video through.

Thousands of people actually watched it until the end and felt inspired enough to share it.

While the sole purpose here was the educational/inspiration message, the focus of the video was entertainment. Her attractive appearance and “performance” caught eyes, then her message helped keep them there.

So, look at your list of social post ideas and ask yourself,

Is this post entertaining? Is it inspirational?

Because you’re probably looking at it solely through the lens of you and what you want to get across — while you need to be looking at it through your intended viewers’ lenses.

“What do I want people to know?”

will be less successful than

“How can I make this post a good little experience for them?”

Lastly, remember to give a bit of thought to your thumbnail images. This is how you tease people into clicking the post — which means there should usually be some sort of caption to explain what the video is about.

Important distinction here:

You do not need to put more than five minutes of work into your thumbnail image, but you do need to make one!

You don’t even need to use another program to do it! Here’s how:

Just take a screenshot of a decent frame of your video…

Upload that photo to your Instagram Story and add a caption over top…

Then save it, and then trash the Story post.

Done! Easy peasy.
